Your ppp connection is stuck for some reason. ps -axuww|grep pppd (and
also grep kppp). killall -9 pppd, killall -9 kppp etc.

Plenty. Mutt, Gnus/Emacs are the two most powerful ones around - far
more powerful than pegasus, or the bat.
