OK. Jumping in with two feets... But no flame war please.. Let's be objective..

See it's going to be my company and So I make a choice what it would run. So that's not biased. That's choice. > Do all linuxers have to be so anti-microsoft? All I would say is I am not a pro Microsoft. > I feel that its best to get everthing from everybody. Mee too. Copying feature doesn't carry any price tags..;-) > > Making a product like microsoft windows or word > for that matter is no minor feat. I agree(Well from a user point of view). But that doesn't justify the bloat. I still can't figure out the black hole of HDD space when default install of XP eats 2.3GB and it's not even as usable as base debian install. Koffice is 10 times smaller than microsoft office and does 70% of things. Even if rest of 30% added, it won't bloat that much. With linux I can account for every byte on disk, barring few megs gone in journals of reiser/ext3(I dunno exactly ext3 journal is visible or not.). Tell me an equivalent of rpm -ql foo on windows. Actually after I have written installshield project for one product here, I am like stunned. (Now I know why old people say, never poke in kitchen if you want to eat.) I will never have good sleep after an install.. > We all write code. > They want to charge money(cheap), its fine with me. It's not about money. It's about value and freedom and choice. I hate two things about Micrsoft. 1. They assume the power you make decisions on behalf of me. that's unacceptable. 2.Most of the time I can make better decision than their software does. And besides the are pretty feeble technically IMO. See they still can't get dlls to share memory space and install display driver in kernel..(Ducking for asbestos suite.. Don't follow this topic on LIH.. may be on LIP but suitable on LIG. I am not there anyway..;-)). Anyway I am not digging any historical issues like GDT being world writable in Win9x. I don't mind companies charging for software and service. All I say is justify value you are charging. > Don't get me wrong. I love linux > But then again, I love lots of other things too :) Same here. Only thing is that I love very few things on earth, linux being one of them and any microsoft product, barring VC compiler being not one of them. I love that compiler for code it produces.. Fast and may be clean.. Shridhar _______________________________________________ linux-india-help mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help
