That's why I said in my company. Issue of compatibility dogs software companies which usually have massive e-communication with others. You start from scratch and leave all legacy behind, koffice rocks.. And secondly koffice is quitea refreshing change in desktop computing. KParts/frames etc stuff. is damn good... > Until that issue is completely resolved either through > Microsoft tying up with KOffice OR > KOffice refusing to deal with DOC files. They i.e. koffice developers suggest rtf. They can handle it and it takes almost everything a doc can. > > Why not use vim? :) > With features like split windows, folding, marks > And also availibility on most platforms, its an ideal choice. > There are many people who still use vim to > author web pages and writeups. Good. Does it do table of contents, bulleted lists, header/footers? And thank you I know latex can. But we are talking of an office suite and not just real word processing. It involves auto-matic appointments with korganiser/kmail, kplateu which is Microsoft Project work-alike and things like that. And yes, pretty old spreadsheets. (I am dropping presentations because they can be done in latex but not animations I believe..
