Hi All, I have a assembled PC with intel 815 chipset motherboard. It has an inbuilt sound card . I have installed 7.1 but I could not able to configure the sound controller. Normally when I run sndconfig It says that one sound controller found and it enables the sound controller . But actually if I run any player devide like realplay or xmms it gives error 1. You have the correct output pluggins selected 2. No other program is blocking the sound card. 3. Your sound card is configured properly.
And in the /etc/modules.conf file I ave found the following entries: alias sound-slot-0 i810_audio post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || : pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1 || : My lspci command shows the following: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82815 815 Chipset Host Bridge and Memory Controller Hub (rev 02) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82815 CGC [Chipset Graphics Controller] (rev 02) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82820 820 (Camino 2) Chipset PCI (rev 02) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82820 820 (Camino 2) Chipset ISA Bridge (ICH2) (rev 02) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82820 820 (Camino 2) Chipset IDE U100 (rev 02) 00:1f.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82820 820 (Camino 2) Chipset USB (Hub A) (rev 02) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82820 820 (Camino 2) Chipset SMBus (rev 02) 00:1f.4 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82820 820 (Camino 2) Chipset USB (Hub B) (rev 02) 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation: Unknown device 2445 (rev 02) 01:0c.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82557 [Ethernet Pro 100] (rev 05) Since audio controller was giving unknown device so I tried to install ALsa driver for supporting this audio driver. I installed the following alsa-driver-0.5.11 alsa-lib-0.5.10b alsa-utils-0.5.10 Then I changed the /etc/module.conf to include the following as per ALSA . /etc/modules.conf alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-card-intel8x0 options snd-card-intel8x0 snd_ac97_clock=47999 alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss After that I tried to start alsasound but it failed with following error: /etc/init.d/alsasound start Starting sound driver: snd-card-intel8x0 /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/misc/snd-card-intel8x0.o: unresolved symbol synchronize_irq /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/misc/snd-card-intel8x0.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/misc/snd-card-intel8x0.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/misc/snd-card-intel8x0.o: insmod snd-card-intel8x0 failed done After that I installed the latest alsa driver i.e alsa-driver-0.5.12a. But it is in vain. So can anybody help me so that I can configure it properly. The result is same when I upgraded my linux from 7.1 to 7.2.
