Working with a MySQL backend, is a different kettle of fish all together. Not necessarily the best, but it works and does a lot of things. the advanced users stuff is because the sasl backend stuff is insanely complicated to setup if you aren't using the defaults and trying to setup a system that works smoothly over more than one server.
