Hi

Can anybody explain me what's this upto? I am using Mandrake 8.2.

[shridhar@perth tmp]$ cat startrek | sed s/^%/"text\n"/g|head
A father doesn't destroy his children.
-- Lt. Carolyn Palamas, "Who Mourns for Adonais?",
                   stardate 3468.1.
textn
A little suffering is good for the soul.
-- Kirk, "The Corbomite Maneuver", stardate 1514.0
textn
A man either lives life as it happens to him, meets it head-on and
licks it, or he turns his back on it and starts to wither away.
-- Dr. Boyce, "The Menagerie" ("The Cage"), stardate unknown
[shridhar@perth tmp]$ head startrek

-- Lt. Carolyn Palamas, "Who Mourns for Adonais?",
                   stardate 3468.1.
%

[shridhar@perth tmp]$

IMO this is not exact behaviour I want. I am not able to put any of \n/\t in
replacement expression in sed..

 Any help apprecited..
Bye
 Shridhar
