First of all arvind, I am not sure, that this is the correct place to
discuss this.
We are all patriots and your concern is appreciated and shared, but our
nation is also served by us getting on with our normal jobs. Even the
sysadmins and linux-users here... and the purpose of this list is just that.
Completely OT discussions here, deter us from focusing on that.
I can supply you with several newsgroups and lists where you can share your
concerns with us. :)

> *do* mean that pakistanis are a dumb little
> tribe)understand that it was an [OT].

Dear Satsco, Putting [OT] on the subject line, means that those of us who
want to gain some knowledge besides sitting on our butts and discussing
political issues all day long, have the choice of saving some time on
reading such. [OT] means I don't read even the subject line or the mail to
decide if this was related to linux, which is what one generally expects to
find here.

> thirdly, if you dont give a damn about it, it does not
> mean that the rest of the list does not..

--*snip*--

Yes, we do give a damn. But we also expect things to be in context.
We are very concerned about war etc. But this does not means that we are not
patriots if we don't share your enthusiasm about sitting discussing it all
day long, and *every* single place.

One does not call up the bank/police station/hospital etc. to discuss such
topics. One is expected to mail the newspapers etc. instead. There is such a
thing as the appropriate context. And yet some of us don't seem to
comprehend this.

Pakistanis might or might not be dumb... but right now, I wonder how the
above relects on *us*.

Regards,
Abhi

P.S.
I find your mail more offensive than arvind. He possibly, is still learning
about the net-etiquettes etc and will come around in due-time. OTH, your
attempt at defending completely OT discussions (Vardhan's statement was
*sarcasm* btw, about discussing cygwin on a linux list.) *and* a silly gripe
against sigs (they are just small random quotes often and in no way
connected to the mail itself) is more offending.
