I never used NFS - but as a developer I intend to suck as much networking knowledge as possible in my spare time. By the way, while on Google, I came across this strange article on "DIPC" and one such para: "DIPC (Distributed Inter-Process Communication) is a scalable distributed processing system that can be used on a LAN as well as over slower network links with higher latency times, such as the Internet." "DIPC programs can be independent of any network physical characteristics, like IP addresses. In particular, the decisions of how to map a programs logical computing resources to physical ones can be made by the end user. And, DIPC-enabled programs can be used on ordinary Linux machines with no need for recompilation." Can somebody explain in much simpler non-technical words, what this damn DIPC does exactly - and which are these "DIPC-enabled programs" in Linux ?
