yes, agreed -
and my suggestion is to keep a 2.4.18/latest kernel along with the
deadrat 7.1 one - when u wanna use ur modem use the deadrat one
otherwise use the 2.4.18 - that one is rock solid
and technically, it would work with all distros - and u may tarball the
files in the rpm so that non rpm folks may use that
