Mukund,
I am also in your boat. Wordstar keys being ingrained
into my genes since CP/M days. However, I shifted to "e3"
editor over a year ago. It is 100% WS non-document mode with
some additional features in the new version like Undo and
numeric calculation abilities. It is in assembly, single
file (under 12 k) and is lightning fast. It is linked on:

For folks from DOS background, who want a dos-ish type
of editor with frills like project/ compile/ calculator/HTML
export/ ASCII chart etc, one of the best is "setedit". Have
a feeling that folks like newlxuser (~Pat) would be at home
in this type of an environment. Yes, it has DOS type colours
for background/ foreground as well.
Just my 2p
Bish

Sub : Simple console calculator (#2) LOST #222
A command line calculator which also understands precedence:
Try :$echo "(12 + 2) / (5 + 2) ^ 2" | bc ### integer maths
Or :$echo "scale=4; (17 / 3) + 0.517" | bc ### 'real' maths
Note:'scale' is the decimal round off figure (real numbers).
