What's the big deal about these google searches anyway? Are we using
the list to try to project some false image of Linux in India or as a
means of communication between people who use/like/want to use Linux?

I personally don't give a fig for what google or geocrawler or
whatever throws up on searching for Linux in India. An unmoderated
list with over 2000 members from all walks of life and all levels of
experience (with Linux, computers and Internet) is bound to have all
types of messages and threads, good, bad and ugly. Of course, people
with the wrong motives will always find some mud to throw if they're
look hard enough -- all we're doing is perhaps making it easier for
them to find that mud. However, that does not detract from the
usefulness of this list to me.

<List Admin hat on>

As far as I know the purpose of this is list is to facilitate
communication between Linux users in India, and (occasionally) let
them have some fun. If the raison d'etre (yeah my French sucks) is
something else, like projecting an idealistic, aseptic picture of the
Linux community in India, then I'm in the wrong job. Further, I don't
know how to manage a list which serves the second purpose without
heavy moderation and a fascist attitude towards each list member, and
wouldn't want to know either.

<List Admin hat off>

Lighten up, guys. If you just change your point of view a bit, you'll
see that what you consider shameful on the LI lists is only another
aspect of freedom: people are free to make (perceived) mistakes and
other people are free to respond to those (perceived) mistakes.
Everyone (starting with me) makes mistakes from time to time, it's no
big deal.

Suggestions, criticisms welcome.
