What you are painting is end effect. As it will go in archives of LI* history.
What we need to tell other people are the causes of the same.

Here it goes as what I see..

1)One person asks a question
2)Lot of people feel it's stupid because it's in lot of trivial documentation.
3)The OP does not know it's a stupid question.
4)OP is not used to read documentation and so has ignored the welcome mail from
List which does lot of good things if taken seriously..

(This is done before...but still) It's fair that everybody should get one
chance to commit stupidity but it's tiring for old list lurkers like many
people out here to answers same question at least once per person...

The way I have seen list evolving, there is an answer to this..

1)If you feel question is stupid, keep quite. If somebody is stuck desparately,
he will find his ways to documentation, google and archives..

2)This is sad part of it.

When I joined list and started answering some trivial questions, I was under
impression that I am taking some burdon off people who can answer a real and
possibly unique problem. I keep doing the same till date.

I can safely assume that many other folks here do the same.. But I don't see
enough fresh blodd induction in this shouting brigade. People come, ask
question and leave till they have another problem. That may be OK for some
product list like koffice because a user is not supposed to contribute to such
lists forever while enjoying benefit of developer vicinity.. But for lists like
LI*, it's absolutely essential, IMO..

Some thoughts, I hope somebody fresh starts answering trivias bit more
enthusiastically..

Bye
 Shridhar
