I too face the same problem.

I did a fresh installation of Red Hat Linux 7.3 (same configuration 
as above). There is no dual boot, but I installed LILO too.
When I give the runlevel, it says "no more processes left in this
run level".

Then booted with linux CD with rescue option and found that 
/etc/inittab file is not there. So I've to copy inittab from someother
system and start booting.

Before that can anybody say,  what is the problem?
