i had the yahoo messenger version 0.97 working for 1-2
months in RHL 7.1 and then suddenly it went dead. 

After a long time showing as connecting, it then says
cannot write to �#@%.... (some ascii chars). The bin
directory /opt/ymessenger/bin gets filled up with
these POV@POV$%^#$, ��&*^%$$....  type of filenames.

couldnot write to offline.xpm
couldnot write to OV@OV&^%...

message in the console

failed.
