Looks like extremely poor connectivity between you and mail.srivari.net -
that, or mail.srivari.net is heavily overloaded.

Right now, though mail.srivari.net (hosted on level3's backbone) is very few
traceroute hops from me, it is taking ages to respond on port 25 with a
banner...

This is from one of our servers in the USA (hosted on XO, which peers at
paix.net with level3)
