Which version of tune2fs is this ? The  older  versions do not
have this -j switch. Wondering when this addition came about.

'#tune2fs -L volume-label'  sets volume label of an ext2 file-
system. Labels can be at most  16  characters long. The volume
can be used by mount(8), fsck(8), and /etc/fstab(5).
