Thanks But it doesn't seem to work because RH7.1 seems to have a problem detecting the modem in the first place. It goes through a search on various stty(s) and reports there is no modem. Manually configuring one doesn't help either. Regarding sound I agree. Also alsa drivers make a difference. Regards
