o You do not need to go into a console for doing "sudo wvdial"
  to get on the net as an user. You can fire it from  an xterm
  as well.

o FYI, there is a script called x-wvdial on the net (google for
  it). It does the same thing as an user through sudo. The only
  catch here is its  dependency on the  legacy xmessage program
  from Xfree. Many modern distros do not come with this. AFAIK,
  debian has it by default.
  
o Can send x-wvdial in personal mail if desired.
