Hi,
ext3 is ext2+journalling.Its the incremental
enhancement of ext2 fs.So it may not be as good as
other journal filesystem.
Reiserfs, IBM jfs, and SGI XFS are the other
journalling filesystems on LiNUX.
XFS is graded best for servers. 
Its is said that ext3 file system can provide stronger
guarantees about data integrity in case of an unclean
system shutdown.
XFS has more advanced facilities including data
reorganisation(like defragmentation) utilites.
