While trying to record some music using gnome-sound-recorder the
application would get stuck and go into a long hang.
On a terminal window, dmesg revealed the following message:
"ESSOLO1: CANNOT START RECORDING. DDMA MASK BIT STUCK AT 1"
I have got this message several times while doing dmesg on a console
(especially with RH7.1). In fact then message scrolls past at lightening
speed.
KDE complains about CPU overload caused by the soundserver start up and
frequently gets stuck for ages starting up.
What can I do to get around this problem.
The sound card is ESS Solo 1 PCI AUdio-drive (ES1969). It is possible to
playback music etc. but there are problems like the one mentioned above
with KDE.
Thanks in advance
Pramathesh
