Yeah, this sounds like its related to the hang bug.
Just try removing the __db.nnn files in /var/lib/rpm manually and see if this
helps. Upgrading to the latest rpm-* packages from rawhide might also help.
IMO, RHL 8.0 is unusable for the newbie because of this kind of bugs in RPM.
Good they have come out with an early beta of 8.1.
