My oracle was working properly, till someone accidently turned off the server. after i rebooted, i could not get the oracle dbserver started.
i tried the following commands [oracle@mail oracle]$ sqlplus /nolog SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Fri Jan 31 10:40:52 2003 Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved. SQL> connect / as sysdba Connected to an idle instance. SQL> startup ORACLE instance started. SQL> [oracle@mail oracle]$ sqlplus scott/tiger@ora SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Fri Jan 31 10:42:19 2003 Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved. ERROR: ORA-12541: TNS:no listener Enter user-name: [oracle@mail oracle]$ nmap localhost Starting nmap V. 3.00 ( www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) Interesting ports on localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1): (The 1598 ports scanned but not shown below are in state: closed) Port State Service 21/tcp open ftp 22/tcp open ssh 25/tcp open smtp Nmap run completed -- 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0 seconds for some reason, oracle is not able to bind to its port thought it says, db mounted and started. what have I done wrong ?
