If I could get some simplified instruction manuals for Linux it will be
of great help to teachers in our schools. Can you please help me to lay
my hands on any such material.

How simplified does it have to be? There are tons of docs that come with linux and also on the net.
First you need to decide exactly how much you are going to teach your students. Make a list of functions that they are going to use, e.g. create, modify, delete, copy, move, rename directories and files. Then from the docs select the most common or much used parameters and build your own instruction manuals.
I believe all of us on this list could be of help once you decide on the syllabus.

Regards
Ami
