Hi All I run a dual boot (win/rh7.3) m/c. Celeron 900 MHz with 128 MB RAM on a 40 GB HDD. Usual desktop is KDE. I face a problem which is randomly occurring and ocassional in nature. Whenever I browse using Konqueror , sometimes the HDD will start thrashing and none of the key strokes or Mouse clicks will rgister, or rather it will be more than a minute before it will register in the terminal or on the KDE windows.
"Top" command shows 86 to 89 % CPU used by kdeinit and RAM fully used with only 2 MB free (this RAM usage is usual even in normal circumstances). In this even when I want to shut down, just for the mouse click to register it took about 90 seconds. Why does it happen ? Any leads ? Since I was in Linux, I was not worrying about my stand alone HomePC being hacked. But is that also a possibility? Pl help.
