[..]For me it sounds like permission problem to stop xinetd. Is the script running in root's crontab?
The problem is everyday the script is unable to stop xinetd. I the log file it says : Stopping xinetd [FAILED]
One more thing you I suggest is try inserting exec statement before '/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd stop' , it _may_ work.. But without exec also it is supposed to work.
