Well i have been sticking with debian for last six months, i like it becuase
there are a lot of packages and i have finally become friendly with
apt and other debian features or eccentricities.

Recently a friend of mine gave me 11 cds of sid updated on 3rd march,
which is fairly recently and now i have mozilla 1.2 and other nifty
things.

Having said all that, debian retains a lot of control itself. i don't
like, use and/or understand debconf. i prefer to do things the emacs/zile
way.

Slackware i haven't tried before <hint, hint>, though i understand
that there isn't a packaging system per se and that you compile
software with your own options (which is rather appealing to my mind
it so loves this extra layer of complexity). Ofcourse the number of
packages on Slackware might be limiting and more so since all the isos
aren't freely available now but just the install one.

What do you people think is a more widely used distribution in
production enviornemnts?

Anything can be made secure with a bit of toil but what works for you,
especially when you consider updates and security patches?

regards
surkit
