I don't think they should have bounced back, because
some of these mails were from my other own accounts, I
have checked no mail bounce have been received.
Second, if after getting downloaded the bounce
mechanism should have worked using my smtp, then it
would not have, I am not able to send mail from my
box. I sent a test mail to myself from mutt and it was
still in the MTA queue when I disconnected, I have
downloaded your HOWTOS and will try reconfiguring once
get back home.

Any other place where the mails would have been stuck,
they are not on pop server.
