I tried IceWM and the performance has improved a lot. Still, when there are 4/5 apps concurrently running in the system, the performance drop occurs again. What I observed, the system speed is acceptable as long as memory requirements are met. Maybe re-compiling will improve it further, but avoiding memory-hungry apps is the best bet. Or probably increasing RAM. :-)

I also tried Blackbox (which had some problems with NLS enabled, so i had to diaable it), but IceWM is cool. Am looking forward to XFCE4 though, which is to be released on 15 Jul.
