Thanks for the reply. I tried this, but still the mail status gives "deferred". Couldn't collect much information from the syslog also. I am attaching some portion of the mail.log. External mails are going normally. Only local mails are creating problem, which I doubt may be due to some problems with maildrop. The configuration was working fine for quite a long time and suddenly only the problem came.
Any specific method to debug maildrop ?
You are using sendmail 8.9.3 or older, as I see from the queue ids ...
Problem with maildrop - try reinstalling it / check the path to maildrop.
Then see /var/log/messages and /var/log/maillog for any errors that maildrop produces.
