I have worked in slackware 3.2, in this you have to wet your feet; wonder if things have improved in ver 9
look for a file .xinitrc in the folder /usr/lib/X11/
you will find a line
exec kde
change it to exec fvwm, or twm or any other wm you wanty to
it is not right to say that slackware does not allow you gui login use xdm modify inittab file accordingly. it is very much customizable provided you get your hands dirty ----scripting that is the thrill in slackware!! murali
