Music cd's are made using the Redbook format.... did you read my
previous post at all?

I'm not sure what you mean by the term "true fidelity". But mp3 is
transparent at high bitrates (160 - 220 kbps) in VBR mode for most
people, if you're using recent versions (2.90+) of the lame encoder.

transparency = inability to distinguish between the original and the mp3
versions of the track in blinded listening tests.

No. Audio cd players play only audio cd's. And my previous post mentions
how you can create an audio cd using cdrecord.

As you seem so obsessed with *.cda, you might be glad to hear that your
audio cd created with cdrecord will also show all your audio tracks as
*.cda files if you look at the cd with windows.
