I just happened to compile (redhat 9) kernels 2.4.20 and 2.4.22 on my
brothers' comp a few days back to provide support for the VIA KT600 chipset.
Used the athlon configs but modified them a lot. Also applied a few patches
to the sources. It was a breeze throughout.. No problems anywhere as such.
Modules installed fine without _any_ trouble.
I would be able to help you guys out if you could throw some light on the
following:
gcc version,
kernel version,
patches (if any),
specific hardware you are trying to modularize
and some error code where the compilation terminates.
(also check for known bugs and available patches for your hardware)
regards,
Bhaskar.
