you could use mencoder, the movie encoder/decoder/editor that comes with 
mplayer (mplayer.hq.hu), but afaik there is no gui frontend for this, you 
have to use it from the commandline. you need to note the timestamps of the 
section you want to cut out, and use that in the commandline. takes some 
getting used to, but quite easy after that. this is what i use.
there are also Broadcast 2000 and MainActor, but i haven't used either of 
them.
