Hello friends,

I'm looking out for a new graphics card for my personal box.... the
present GeForce2 MX400 seems a little old in the tooth for the new
windoze games that I'd like to play.

I use linux (FC1 presently) on my personal box for all my daily work
except gaming, for which I boot to windoze.

Which should I choose... an NVIDIA or an ATI graphics card?

I know that NVIDIA makes decent drivers for their graphics cards for
linux because I've been using them for the last couple of years (yes,
yes,I know that those drivers are binary-only... but then, I've already
sold my soul to the devil....... ;-)).

How good are ATI's Catalyst drivers for linux? Does anyone on the list
have any experience with them?

Given a choice between a high-end NVIDIA and ATI graphics card for
linux, which one of the two brands would you recommend?

I'm eventually planning to buy one of these cards
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 / 5900XT
ATI Radeon 9800Pro / 9800 / 9600XT
Any comments / suggestions on these specific cards for linux? (I'm
presently leaning towards getting an ATI card).

Thank you,
Vinu.
