Yes, I had followed some insrutions from the debian-kde wiki to be able to
get hold of kde. These were the instructions.

create /etc/apt/preferences containing: 
Package: *
Pin: release testing
Pin-Priority: 900

Package: *
Pin: release unstable
Pin-Priority: 600
