I don't think this has to do with the 2.6 kernel.. my mouse movements have
always awakened my monitor(dpms).

I had a similiar issue with xlock ... traced it down to a missing pam config
file.

I vaguely remember being able to see my IDE CD-ROM when I did a -scanbus ..
but it doesn't seem to work now.

Your init scripts may need some tweaking... some entries in /proc have
changed a bit from 2.4.
