async logging.
I do not have the option of trying NetAPP. My storage is around 1 TB
on this server on a SAN. Moving imapd, pop3d etc to another server
would have definitely helped if my storage was NAS.

I can only do this once I am able to decommission this server. Currently
this server is on Production and I cannot touch it. I hate
this server (in fact all servers from Sun). Very costly to maintain.
Should be able to do when my business starts making money :)

The queue filesystem was on RAID 0 for both qmail and postfix. Was
striped across multiple disks.

I had done a small trick with qmail. The startup script was modified
to run multiple qmail-send process on multiple queues. I had 10
different queues created for qmail, each running an instance of
qmail-send process and patched up with the EXT-TODO patch. The patch
coupled with multiple queues allowed qmail to ram the hard disks when
there was a very high incoming rate in the mornings.
