Sorry for replying to my own mail!

Now, in the beginning, when I was new to the system, I asked the system administrator whether I could use the ordinary "mail" program for e-mail, but the admin said that is not possible with this setup. However, now I feel this is possible, if sendmail is properly configured, since /var is also mounted from a common place, so /var/spool/mail/(user) should be available to all. Is it not so?
I still don't know about this.
Anyway, I want to use mutt to handle my mail. Now, I can configure fetchmail to get messages using POP from the mail server. But fetchmail refuses to write fetched messages because the sendmail service is not running.
Neither do I know about this.
Well, I could use the "fetch-mail" feature in mutt itself. But then, again, how do I send mail? sendmail is not configured to deliver to the SMTP server, and the administrator doesn't seem to be in a mood to configure it right now (maybe I can pester him next week). Is there still a way for me to use mutt?
Another careful google search led me to a an SMTP wrapper written in Perl, to replace sendmail. That solves the SMTP part, I guess. Sorry for posting this question!
