I did an rmmod and modprobe of pcnet_cs and 8390 but there was nothing in /var/log/messages. What is surprising is that it works with knoppix 3.4 runnig off the CD yet does not work with both fedora core 2 as well as debian testing. And I had it working with the debian install on the smae machine from the same install CD. I still have the old hard disk on which I had previously installed debian. Would something on that help ? On trying to configure the network from the kde menu I keep getting this error: pcnet_cs device eth0 does not seemto be present, delaying initialisation. I have googled for this error message and have got some pointers. Will try and let you know. regards, Sharukh
