Which Linux distro are you using. Are you using OSS
or alsa to detect sound. If using OSS try "sndconfig"
on command prompt. If using alsa try "alsaconf" and
unmute the speakers using "alsamixer".
In case your sound card is not supported try using
latest version of alsa.
