I am using FC2 w/ a postfix-fetchmail-procmail-mutt setup. I am using
vsnl dialup internet here.
I have this line in /etc/ppp/ip-up.local
--------------------------------------------------
/usr/bin/fetchmail -v &
I have even changed this to
usr/bin/fetchmail -v -f/home/spavri/.fetchmailrc &
--------------------------------------------------
The problem is that fetchmail does not start automatically when ppp
comes up. I have to start it manually from the command line using
-------------------------
$ fetchmail -v -d1800
-------------------------
I also have the following in ip-up.local (some lines snipped)
-----------------------------------------------------
#/sbin/service wwwoffled online
/sbin/service wwwoffled fetch
/usr/sbin/sendmail -q
while mailq | grep '^[^ ]*\*' > /dev/null
do
sleep 10
done
-----------------------------------------------------
Wwwoffle and sendmail -q are called from this file and work perfectly.
Also once started, fetchmail is killed on hangup from ip-down.local
which has:
---------------
killall fetchmail
---------------
This is what fetchmail -V says (first few lines, the rest are server
options)
-----------------------------------------------------
[EMAIL PROTECTED] spavri]$ fetchmail -V
This is fetchmail release 6.2.5+IMAP-GSS+NTLM+SSL+INET6+NLS
Fallback MDA: (none)
Linux carbon.pavri.net 2.6.5-1.358 #1 Sat May 8 09:04:50 EDT 2004 i686
athlon i386 GNU/Linux
Taking options from command line and /home/spavri/.fetchmailrc
Poll interval is 1200 seconds
Logfile is /home/spavri/.log/fetchmail.log
Idfile is /home/spavri/.fetchids
Fetchmail will forward misaddressed multidrop messages to postmaster.
----------------------------------------------------
These are the first few lines of $HOME/.fetchmailrc
-----------------------------------------------------
set daemon 1200
set postmaster "postmaster"
set bouncemail
set properties ""
set logfile "/home/spavri/.log/fetchmail.log"
-----------------------------------------------------
sorry for the long mail and thanks in advance,
regards,
Sharukh
ps.: This is the same file I used with RH9 and it worked perfectly.
Mails for root are delivered to my account.
