according to me they have functional differences. Most of the things r
common in linux and unix. but linux is meant for use as a desktop OS
and daily, just like windows and we may just use it for normal daily
operations like word processing, listening to music, do some software
development....
Unix is mainly for use in servers were we require dedicated support
for network operations and security and not for use as normal os for
word processing or music. unix has all utilities for network
management (which now linux also has).
however linux can also be used as a server.
this was my view. some1 else may like to add/correct something.
