A wild guess: could it be some process scheduled by a cron job (assuming that crond was running). On Redhat 9.0, I remember 'updatedb' being scheduled as a cron job every night. Just wondering if there could be any process scheduled to run every month, similarly. (Can't confirm this as I dont have Fedora setup at my place right now.)
