Does any one in the list use bsnl internet dial up access in linux?
Bsnl had brought out a scheme in select cities where, those who have a
bsnl land line phone connection can register at their site and then
dial in to their isp server using that connection. The charge is 10
paise per min + telephone call rate which will be included in your
bymonthly telephone bill. ( BSNL link is
http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/internet_typeofaccess.htm#cli ). Now
when you register, your 'user id' will be your landline phone number
and the 'password' will be the one you set while you registered.
My problem is as follows:
I used wvdial to dial into the BSNL ISP using the number 172222. I
gave the user ID as my landline number. I had included the username
and password in /etc/wvdial.conf file. It dials successfully to the
ISP but I get the error that eaither the username or the password is
incorrect, and get disconnected with an error code 15. I am sure that
there is no error with the username and password, as I am using the
same account succesfully in win 98. I tried satyam dial up account
which I am able to use successfully in linux.
Is it that the bsnl server is configured to expect connection from a
client machine running only windows?
