Dear List,
I am using Debian unstable, which I obtained from an install of
Knoppix 3.6 and and an online apt-get dist-upgrade to unstable. Now, I
wanted to use latex. So, I 'apt-get'ed tetex-bin, tetex-extra and a
few other packages. But whenever I give latex or pdflatex, I get an
error resembling the following:

kpathsea: Running mktexfmt latex.efmt
fmtutil: config file `fmtutil.cnf' not found.

I have tried to search on the net, and found a few bugs in the Debian
database, but no info proved useful. Could you tell me what to do?

And, dpkg-reconfigure tetex-bin gives me 'tetex-bin is broken or not
full installed', despite my trying to remove it and reinstall it.

Thank you.

Kumar
