[LIH]KPPP problem

I am using RedHat Linux 9. I am having strange problems with KPPP. Kppp 
allows me to connect to BSNL. but mozilla reports hosts to be down. I have 
seen people post this thread but it has been answered to be a dns error. But 
how could it be i have given obtain DNS from the ISP. Moreover i cannot ping 
a website or load it in a browser with its IP address (so its not DNS 
problem). ifconfig and route shows that ppp is up. Please, any help is 
appreciated.
