Yesterday I tried to connect Reliance Samsung Mobile on a Compaq Laptop
with FC3. I found that I had to use /dev/ttyUSB2 and also pppd does not
need the "/dev" prefix anymore. So please try

pppd ttyUSB? .........

See if it helps.
