Lets have it then!

Vi rulez! Emacs has to complex commands for a normal user like me. It also is
more of an OS than of an editor. So better topic would be "GNU-Utils vs
Emacs" :-P But vi focuses on doing what it is. And it does it best.

This list is for Linux, I suppose. So, lets not touch this topic.

BSD, IMHO, is a better and less restrictive licence. You can use BSD licence
in commercial apps also which is not in GPL. LGPL is there but there are also
limitations in it.

KDE wins hands down for a normal user with heavy machinery (I mean computer)
and a focus on looks. Gnome is more for a normal desktop with a better focus
on speed. But, fluxbox wins in all areas. Looks, speeds, features and
otherwise.

Every distro has it's plus and minus points. Debian is easily upgradable and
thus is good for a normal user. RH is the worst (IMHO). But the Mandrake guys
have done a lot of work to make it better.
The best thng about debian is that the developers are spread around the world
and thus it supports a lot of platforms and hardware.

We have to increase the traffic in _this_ list. Let's keep it here.
