Did you install courier-authlib before attempting to compile full
courier? That is a mandatory step from 0.48 onwards. Also, some more
info about your OS - you will need a decently recent Linux
distribution.

First of all sorry for the late reply (I am out of station and cannot really access my email). Yes I did install courier-authlib before compiling courier. Because courier complained the first time I tried to compile it without the authlib. A look at one of the README files clarified that I needed authlib so I downloaded that and compiled it successfully. After ./configured courier without a problem too. Running make however came apart.
As far as the OS is concerned it is Mandrake Linux 9.2 (with kernel 2.4.10.22 -- I am not sure about the 10.22 but I think that's it)
Thanks and regards
Pramathesh
