Hello Sandeep,
Is data one a broadband connection or a dial up connection? If it is broadband, check if the connection to the modem is via ethernet port or the USB port. If the former, then I guess you can just start browsing like you do in a LAN. But if it is USB then you will need linux drivers for your modem.
If it is a dial-up connection, then - I had configured my internal modem to connect to BSNL dial up connection and I have listed the steps here

PS: Why don't you upgrade to Fedora Core 2 or later - OR - atleast upgrade your kernel to 2.6 . It has better support than 2.4.
